Mason Conservation District

Mason Conservation District’s Anaerobic Digester is a 24 wet ton per day anaerobic digestion facility that will process restaurant waste, animal manure, fish carcasses from the local tribal fishery, food waste from the nearby Washington Correctional Facility, and residential yard waste. The digestion facility is a zero discharge facility that incorporates ammonia removal and nutrient recovery. The only products produced are an enriched fertilizer and biomethane gas that will be sold to the Washington State Correction Center. The primary focus of the project is to recover nutrients and thereby prevent nutrient discharge to Hood Canal, a valuable Pacific Northwest waterway that is currently threatened by point and nonpoint nutrient loads.
