The Pasteurization Process--
Producing Class A+ Solids

without Flotation

Environmental Energy Company has an extremely efficient heating process. This process, when coupled with our automatic control system, can pasteurize effluent of any solids content or flow. Since it can operate fully automatically and continuously, the pasteurization tank can be sized based on the influent flow, availability and the frequency of pasteurization. As stated previously, a pasteurization cycle is typically about an hour. This includes the time to bring to temperature and the necessary holding time at temperature. The effluent from the pasteurization cycle is fully Class A. The pasteurization process, by its nature, will lyce the cells of bacteria present in the influent. This will typically cause odors in the pasteurized effluent. We recommend that this effluent be anaerobically digested as described above. However, if one has other ways of controlling odors or if there are not that many bacteria present then it may be possible to simply dry or otherwise dispose of the Class A effluent.

The automatic controls enables the pasteurization process to operate continuously, day and night, unattended, presuming that the plant access is controlled. The boiler operates on its own, boiler manufacturer supplied, control system. Thus the pasteurization tank can be quite small depending upon the flow that is needed to be supported. The control system can automatically call and send email to an operator should there be an alarm.

The screen shot below shows a typical operator interface for the control system. Not shown are panels that control the pot settings and panels that show various plots of the operating characteristics of the plant, such as the temperature plots for bringing to temperature, etc. Various performance parameters are automatically entered into spreadsheets for continuous enegineering and management reports.
